Boarding at Rishworth - pastoral care, academic work and keeping in touch with home

At Rishworth we offer boarding for boys and girls from the ages of 11 to 18, though occasionally boarders do join who are slightly younger than 11. Boarding at Rishworth gives pupils a sensible degree of independence in a supportive environment. Pupils board in single-sex Houses: Calder for boys and Wheelwright for girls. All Houses have a Housemaster / Housemistress, and a number of Assistants.

All boarding pupils can rely on a carefully structured pastoral system in which excellent relationships between House Staff and pupils flourish in an atmosphere of trust. In addition, progress in school work is monitored closely by academic tutors. Boarders are encouraged to keep in regular touch with their families by e-mail, telephone or letter. If parents or pupils have queries or concerns relating to pupil welfare which they would prefer to raise with a party other than the School, the Commission for Social Care Inspection (tel: 01484 404930) may be a suitable option.
