Introduction from the Headmaster
A thriving, independent co-educational
school with its happy mix of day-pupils,
weekly-boarders and full-boarders,
Rishworth is an exceptionally friendly,
caring community in which pupils are
as strongly encouraged to rejoice in each other’s achievements as to take pride
in their own. Rishworth has its own
Junior School, Heathfield, and offers
a continuous educational provision
to boys and girls from age 3 to 18.

Pupils generally relish their time with us, giving of their best, finding the work
rewarding, forging lasting friendships, enjoying excellent relations with their
teachers and developing an enduring loyalty to the School.
Rishworth’s magnificent buildings, extensive grounds and superb Pennine location
provide pupils with a physical environment which is conducive both to the clarity of mind required for study and to the full and balanced development of young people.

During a pupil’s time at Rishworth, we try to ensure that, in addition to the
knowledge and skills acquired through academic study, (s)he develops:
- a love of learning and the will to succeed
- a sense of responsibility, self-discipline, purpose and fulfilment
- a capacity for both self-reliance and co-operation
- an appreciation of certain personal virtues and spiritual values, such as honesty, dependability, perseverance, commitment, humility and respect for others.
When the time comes for our charges to leave the School, we hope to have helped them not only to be properly prepared for the next stage in their lives, but also to become the confident, balanced and considerate young men and women we wish
them to be. Above all, we expect them to continue enjoying new challenges, learning from mistakes, and extending their own achievements, as they soon begin to help
others extend theirs.
