The idyllic Pennine valley in which Rishworth School, with its extensive grounds, stands offers an environment conducive to happy learning: breathtaking views, pure air, the calm and safety of a semi-rural community, yet very easy routes to and from the airports of Manchester and Leeds.

In addition to the local shops, which are a short walk away, there is ready access by bus to Halifax town centre as well as to the cities of Leeds and Manchester.

Coming to live as a boarder in Rishworth School brings you into a low-mountain landscape of remarkable beauty, with its mosaic of emerald-green pastures edged by the ancient, dry-stone walls which are so typical of the area, and studded with ruggedly-built houses and renovated former mills of attractive, sand-coloured stone. The sense of history in the area is immense: this is the very spot where the water-powered Industrial Revolution which swept through Europe began in the mid-seventeen hundreds. Rishworth School itself dates back to 1724, and the original school building, beautifully preserved, now serves as our school chapel.
