If you are interested in finding out more about Rishworth School (11-18 years) and Heathfield (3 – 11 years) then please do contact our Registrar, Mrs Julie Sutherland, and she will guide you through the process. Her contact details are at the bottom of this page.

Visit the School

We recommend that everyone comes to visit the school on a working day. It is so important to know what a school does and how a it feels when it is full of children. It is also an opportunity to meet with the teachers who will have such a profound input into the lives of your child or children.

When you visit the school you will be taken on a tour. Your guide will usually be a senior member of staff which will give you the opportunity to ask as many questions as you would like to find out more about the School. You will also meet with the Headmaster or, in his absence, a senior member of staff, where you will be able to ask further questions about the School. The Headmaster will also be interested in finding out more about your child and will spend much of the time speaking with him or her.

If you are an international student and unable to visit the school, you will be asked to attend an interview with the Headmaster or a Senior member of staff, by Skype and, if it is appropriate, to complete an online English assessment. Whilst it is not always possible for international students to visit the School before accepting an offer, the offer of visiting and even having a taster day / overnight stay within boarding is always available.

Consider a Taster Day

Choosing a school is the most important decision that we are likely to ever make for our children. It has to be right. If you enjoyed your visit to the school and you felt that it was the right choice for you then why not consider asking for a taster day? Your son or daughter will join Rishworth School or Heathfield for the day. They will be allotted to a form and given buddies who will look after them during their stay, where they will follow the programme and timetable for the group, through which they will get a good feel for our school community.

Register your Child

This is always a good idea even if you are still considering choosing Rishworth or Heathfield for your child’s education. Registering puts a marker in the ground that you are have a serious interest in the School and you will have first refusal where places are limited. It involves giving the School basic contact details and some limited information about yourselves and your child. Registering does incur a small non-returnable fee: the Registrar will be happy to tell you more about this.

Accepting the Offer of a Place

If the Headmaster is content that a child meets the prevailing entry requirements, he will ask the Registrar to make a formal written offer. This will be sent to you to consider and if you want to accept the offer you will need to complete the Acceptance Form that will be included with it. Returning the Acceptance form and the appropriate deposit will form the agreement between School and home and secure the place that you would like to accept for your child.
