Boarders’ Activities Programme

We offer a wide and varied programme of outings and activities at Rishworth.  For the boarders and many day students, the weekends are just as busy as from Monday to Friday.  From morning to evening there is much on offer, whether students are day students, flexi-boarders, weekly boarders or full boarders.  Not only do our students visit theatres, professional sporting events and local amenities, we also have various expert instructors visiting to run a wide range of specialist activities.

Students have a many extra-curricular activities to choose from. A comprehensive sporting programme operates during lessons, after school and at the weekends. The main team sports are on offer to our students include: rugby, football, hockey, netball, tennis, rounders, swimming and athletics.  In addition, many other sports are also available including: basketball, badminton, squash, fitness training and fencing.

Beyond the sports fields, the wide range of activities on offer in the music school and the drama studio keep our students occupied.

Rishworth School has excellent facilities including many pitches, swimming pool, sports hall, fitness room, gymnasium, tennis and netball courts, squash courts, and use of a nearby all weather hockey pitch. The School is set in beautiful grounds providing space for students to unwind, socialise or simply to relax.

Activities at Lunchtime and After Lessons

There are lots of clubs to join. Throughout the week the extra-curricular programme offers over 50 activities, covering a diverse range of disciplines including drama, art, gardening, film club, funk band, ensembles, choirs and many more.

In addition pupils have many opportunities throughout their time at school to develop life-long skills such as leadership and team work.  Rishworth’s students have a very strong tradition of participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Every year there are new additions to the programme and we endeavour to match the requests of our students.
