Rishworth School and Heathfield are inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). School inspections within the Independent sector work on a six year cycle for a full (educational quality and compliance) inspection, with an additional interim ‘compliance’ inspection on the third year of the six year cycle. Compliance inspections focus on whether or not a school meets its statutory obligations only and leads to an judgement of ‘compliant’ or ‘not compliant’ without making any judgement about the quality of teaching and learning. Boarding is also inspected every three years under the ISI structure. This is something that is usually timed to coincide with the full and compliance inspections.
