Rishworth School - GCSE Results 2016

Bumper grades at the top end

We are delighted with the results that have been achieved by our students in the GCSE exams. In addition to fantastic individual achievements at every level, as a cohort they have achieved the best set of top grades in recent years.

 GCSE 2016

• 85% A* - C Grades (in the region of 30% above the national average)
• 32% of the students gained 3 or more A*s or As
• 73% of the students achieved an A or A*
• The highest academic achievers gained unbroken strings of A*-A grades

“I am delighted with the achievements of our GCSE pupils who have gained a fantastic set of results this year. The cohort worked extremely hard towards their exams and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on their success. They are a wonderful group of individuals with the potential to go on and achieve a great deal more in the future whatever they choose to do and wherever they decide to do it.

However good the statistics are, what we really care about – and what we believe parents and pupils really care about - is how each pupil fares relative to his or her own potential. And that is where Rishworth truly excels.”
In the interests of students’ entitlement to privacy, and in the light of the responses received from parents to a school circular which asked for their views about the publication of examination results, Rishworth School is continuing its policy of not publishing without consent the results of individual students.

The Headmaster, Alastair Gloag, comments:

‘The Rishworth Sixth Form is an eclectic and vibrant mix of students who have high academic ability alongside those who have to work harder to achieve similar results in this respect. The cohort always includes a significant number of international students who face an even greater challenge as they study and are examined at A level in their second, and sometimes third language.

We are delighted that our students have done so well in their exams and have set new benchmarks for future years to measure up to.

The students who we have been celebrating with this morning are quite simply, positive, hard-working, lovely people who have given so much to our school community during their time here. They have taken their learning seriously and fully deserve the success that they have had in achieving places in so many great universities and organisations both within the UK and beyond, at a time when there has been so much educational change and uncertainty. We are very proud of what they have achieved and wish them all the very best for the future.

In the interests of our students’ entitlement to privacy, and in the light of the responses received in the past from parents to a school circular which asked for their views about the publication of examination results, Rishworth School has a policy of not publishing the results of individual students without their consent.
