A-level Results

Rishworth School is celebrating another successful year for its A level students.

In terms of points,

  • the average UCAS point-score per candidate was 310
  • 75% of students gained 240 points or more – i.e. 3 C Grades at full A level (or the equivalent)
  • Almost two thirds of students gained 300 points or more - i.e. 3 B Grades at full A level (or the equivalent)
  • More than 1 student in 3 gained 360 points or more, i.e. 3 A Grades at full A level (or the equivalent), with many students gaining far in excess of this and one securing as many as 600 UCAS points

With all AS and A Level units cashed in,

  • 98% of grades at A Level were A*-E
  • the highest-performing students gained their strings of A Grades
  • Over a fifth of all grades attained were A*s or As, with 5 times as many A* grades attained this year compared to last year
  • Almost half of all grades were A*s, As or Bs
  • Almost three quarters of all grades were A*-C

Rishworth is particularly pleased that so many students surpassed what might have been expected from their GCSE results.

At Rishworth we have not only academically gifted students in our Sixth Form but also some who are singularly disadvantaged – for example by not having English as their first, or even their second, language. This makes our results all the more pleasing.

Individually, the strongest candidates achieved their string of A grades, whilst the results of a number of students who had from the outset found A level work a particularly tough challenge exceeded all expectations.

This reflects very well on the efforts both of the students and of the staff.

In the interests of students' entitlement to privacy, and in light of the responses received in the post from parents to a school circular which asked for their views about the publication of examination results, Rishworth School is continuing its policy of not publishing without consent the results of individual students.
