A Life Saving Reminder

We were very pleased to welcome Neil Davidson back to school last term for a special assembly which was featured on ITV Calendar News.

Neil spoke in assembly via a web link with his son, Oliver, who lives and works in Australia.

They discussed the importance of CPR training and recalled a very personal story.

Oliver is an Old Rishworthian and, having received CPR training whilst at school himself, had to make use of the skills he had learned when, on 31st July 2017, his father suffered a heart attack and lost consciousness during the night.

Oliver’s quick actions and perseverance (he provided CPR for over 20 minutes to enable paramedics to arrive at their home) saved his father’s life.

This is not only a very genuine and heart-warming story, it is a reminder to us all that life is very precious and we need to be prepared to act immediately when required as it can make the difference between life and death.

We are very grateful to Neil for sponsoring the CPR training which all members of the school received earlier this term.
