Aims, Ethos and Values

Rishworth is an independent school with the freedom to offer an educational experience personalised to each child’s needs. We are a charity organisation originating from the Wheelwright legacy of 1724 where all our income is invested in the education of our children and the school. Our values are based on Christian ethics and we welcome those of all faiths or non to our community.

Rishworth is a thriving school for both boarding and day students. Most of the day students come from the surrounding areas in Yorkshire and Lancashire whereas boarding students come from the UK and all corners of the globe. This combination of the boarding and day students gives us a diverse and vibrant educational community.

Rishworth is an inclusive school where our students are admitted not only on the basis of their academic talents but on their ability to contribute to the school community. Our goal is that every child exceeds their expectations.

Rishworth provides a broad and well-rounded education including the flexibility to study a wide range of subjects and participate in broad range of extra curricula activities. In particular, we pride ourselves on the excellence of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), music and sport.

Rishworth is a through school taking children from nursery to “A level” (3 to 18 years old). The continuity of education combined with our small class sizes means we understand every child’s character and their needs. This allows for a smooth transition through the stages of the educational system and excellent preparation for further vocational training or university.
