Nursery Admissions
HEATHFIELD PREP NURSERY
OPENING TIMES, FEES AND ADMISSIONS PROCEDURES
Nursery and Reception age children are accommodated in the School’s Foundation Stage Unit. It is here that we aim to provide a positive start to your child’s school years. The Foundation Stage is structured to promote the Early Learning Goals for children’s learning from the age of 3 until the school year in which your child becomes 5.
We are a validated provider of nursery education, making us eligible for Early Years Educational grant funding for three and four year olds.
Children may join the Foundation Stage Unit from the age of three, as long as there are spaces available. In the period between their third birthday and the start of their pre-school year, a flexible programme and timetable can be arranged to suit individual needs.
The pre-school year runs from the September after your child’s third birthday. The education programme in this year is based on attendance at five morning sessions each week. Optional sessions are of course also available each afternoon, when the activities will be slightly less formal than in the mornings.
The Foundation Stage Unit is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm during the school term. Pre-School and after-school care is currently available from 7.45am to 8.30am and 3.45pm to 5.45pm.

Early Education Funding
The Nursery is an accredited provider of Early Education Funding for three- and four-year olds. The funding is available from the term after the child's third birthday until the term in which the child reaches five years of age. The funding will start in Nursery and may continue into the Reception class depending upon your child's date of birth. Each child is entitled to up to 15 hours funding per school term week; these hours can only be taken between 8.30am and 11.30 am Monday to Friday.
If you need further information about the Early Education Funding scheme, please contact the Fees Ledger Clerk, Mrs Judi Parker, at Rishworth School on 01422 822217.
Childcare Vouchers
We do accept childcare vouchers and any parent wishing to use them should contact the Fees Ledger Clerk or the Bursar at Rishworth School on 01422 820917 or 822217. The vouchers may be used to pay for Nursery fees and Reception fees up until the term in which the child reaches the age of 5. The Government has announced that from 6 April 2018 existing childcare voucher schemes will close to new entrants. Parents already registered will remain eligible to receive vouchers as long as they have received a voucher within the last rolling 12-month period. For new entrants, parents will need to register for Tax Free Childcare (www.childcarechoices.gov.uk). Please note that if paying with childcare vouchers you will still have to ensure that all fees are paid before the usual due date. A drink and a snack are included in each session.
Please note that the sibling discount does not apply to children in the Nursery.
Admission to the Nursery
Children are accepted following discussion with the Head of Heathfield and the Head of Pre Prep and on completion of a) our application form and b) acceptance form together with c) payment of a non-refundable registration fee of £50*. Please contact the Admissions Department at 01422 822217 if you would like further and to arrange an individualised tour of Heathfield Prep and the Nursery.
Children continuing from Nursery into our Reception Class must complete an Acceptance and Registration Form and pay the acceptance deposit. This should normally be completed by the February of their pre-school year.
Please see the School's Terms and Conditions for further information about the payment of Fees and Extras. The School's Terms and Conditions are available on request from the Admissions Department
