Wi-Fi
An enormous heartfelt thanks to the Old Rishworthians who stepped in this academic year to support the school by providing funding for the school to complete our wireless upgrade.
As this year progressed, it seemed that every month brought new challenges as a result of COVID-19. However, despite these challenges, our alumni, parents and supporters have been right beside us, every step of the way.
Upgrading the Wi-Fi was especially important given the school’s commitment to home learning whilst the school remained largely closed due to Covid restrictions.
The generous donation enabled the school to build on what we already had and provide wireless coverage over the entire Rishworth School site. As a result of this technological upgrade to our facilities:
· It enabled us to deliver the same excellent level of education to our students.
· Once restrictions started to lift, it allowed us to implement a ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) policy (when exercise books could not be passed around due to fear of transmission).
· All staff and students were then able to access the internet and Google Classroom which enhanced teaching and learning.
Going forward there is lots of potential for wireless use as it expands our network capabilities.
The Bursar, Mrs Walsh said “We are very grateful for this substantial donation during unprecedented times. We are so appreciative for the unwavering support of our OR community”.
Although these past months have been difficult, we remain grounded in our commitment to innovative teaching and learning strategies and offering the very best educational experience. We couldn’t do this without the support of our alumni and for that, we will be forever grateful.
