OR Golf Society

About

The OR Golf Society was formed in 1961 as a means for Old Rishworthians and staff to get together, play golf and socialise.

Historically the Society has tended to use golf courses along the M62 corridor usually including Bradley Hall, Elland, Halifax West End, Huddersfield and Woodsome Hall, but over the years some fifty courses have been played! They are selected based on members requests. 

Usually we meet between April and October and play seven times for a splendid selection of silverware (some of which are recycled cups from School), and then finish the season with an AGM, Dinner and Prize Presentation in mid November, usually held at Elland Golf Club.

Presently, we are a society of up to twenty active members and are usually joined by a number of non-golfers for the after golf dinner. Typically on each round, we get ten or so players plus two or three nongolfers.

These days the standard is from regular golfers with a mid-teen handicap to mainly twenty four plus handicappers.

Membership

We welcome Old Rishworthians (former students and staff) and members of the Old Rishworthians RUFC to join us. We would particularly like to encourage some lady golfers to join us as we currently don't have any!

It's a great fun way to socialise, to keep fit and we would be ideal for someone looking to start playing or improve their game. 

Membership is £25 per annum for playing members and £10 per annum for social members.
